Studio EQ

16 bands. Two phase engines. Per-band dynamics.

A dynamic parametric equalizer for mixing and mastering. Precision filters, Analog saturation and an FFT analyzer in a single window.

The instrument

A complete equalizer.
No shortcuts.

Studio EQ is a 16-band parametric equalizer for mono or stereo tracks. Each band can work in Stereo, Mid, Side, Left or Right, with 14 filter types and up to 120 dB/oct slope.

01 / Equalization

16 bands.
Each one your way.

Shape each band your way: choose the frequency, set the gain and decide how wide the curve should be. When you create a band, Studio EQ suggests the shape that fits that part of the spectrum, and you can change it whenever you want. Each band keeps its place in stereo, mid, side, left or right.

  • Sixteen bands to shape your sound. Each one moves between 10 Hz and 22.05 kHz, with up to ±30 dB of gain and a Q from 0.1 to 40.
  • Fourteen filter types to choose how you intervene: Peak, Low Cut, Low Cut Butterworth, Low Shelf, High Shelf, High Cut, High Cut Butterworth, Notch, Band Pass, Tilt Shelf, Pultec Low Shelf, All Pass, Low Cut Analog and High Cut Analog.
  • Ten slopes, from 6 to 120 dB/oct, for gentler or more radical cuts.
  • Each band can live in stereo, mid, side, or only in the left or right channel.
  • Create a band with a double-click on empty space. Drag to move it and set the gain, and use the wheel to change the slope or Q.
  • Select several bands, copy them, invert their gain or delete them with Alt + double-click.

02 / Phase and quality

Natural or Linear.
You choose the engine.

Studio EQ gives you two phase engines. Natural Phase is the direct route: low latency and the character of each filter. Linear Phase takes its time, but keeps the phase aligned and the same delay across all bands.

  • Natural Phase works like a traditional equalizer: fast response, low latency and the phase of each filter.
  • Linear Phase uses a double-precision symmetric FIR and a matrix that respects the order of the bands and groups.

03 / Dynamics

Per-band dynamics.
Without compromising tone.

Each band can move with the signal level. Choose whether the detector listens to the main mix or an auxiliary track, and set the threshold, attack, release and how much the band moves.

  • Available on Peak, Low Shelf, High Shelf, Tilt Shelf and Pultec Low Shelf.
  • Independent threshold, attack, release and dynamic gain per band.
  • Each dynamic band has its own detector and an adjustable action zone: it reacts only to the area of the spectrum you choose, not to the whole signal.
  • The detector can listen to the internal signal of the channel or mastering bus, or to an external sidechain. The main audio still passes through the EQ; the sidechain only controls when the band moves.
  • The detector moves separately: it does not change the frequency or shape of the band.

04 / Analog

Warm saturation.
Independent from the EQ.

Analog adds soft saturation that responds to input level. It has its own oversampling and DC correction, and adds no noise.

  • Soft saturation that changes with input level.
  • Its own 4x oversampling, always active.
  • At moderate levels, the second harmonic comes forward.

05 / Output and utilities

Final control.
No surprises.

The output stage brings together manual gain, automatic compensation, limiter, polarity and bypass. Each control has a specific job and does not alter the band settings.

  • Output Gain from −136 to +30 dB.
  • Auto Gain compensates the volume when you move the EQ.
  • Limit prevents saturation or clipping in your signal.
  • Polarity flips the signal of both channels by 180°.
  • Bypass delivers the dry signal.

06 / Analyzer

The detail you need to see.

The analyzer is a core part of Studio EQ. In the same curve view it shows the live signal, the spectrum before equalization and the modified result, so you can compare what goes in with what comes out. From there you can switch channels and adjust the range, tilt and resolution for better equalization.

  • Standard or Maximum resolution.
  • Channels: Full, Mid, Side, Mid + Side, Left, Right and Left + Right.
  • Range of −60, −90 or −120 dB.
  • Tilt from 0 to 6 dB/oct.
  • Pre-EQ visible.
  • Contextual HUD, piano keyboard and INPUT/OUTPUT L/R meters.

07 / Listen

Listen to the band.
Do not guess.

LISTEN isolates the selected band zone. You can also explore a free zone without creating a band.

  • LISTEN monitors the selected band zone.
  • Shift triggers momentary listening; outside bands it explores a free zone.
  • Shift + wheel adjusts the free-listening width.

08 / Presets and sessions

Your sound, ready to return.

Factory presets and user presets. The equalizer keeps the parameters saved in the session, the window size, the selection, the meter types, and so on.

  • Load and save your own presets.
  • A/B and Copy in the top bar; Undo, Redo and Reset EQ.
  • The state is kept when you reopen the session.
